The Neuropsychology Center Greece (Neuro-center) recognizes and encourages the pursuit of excellence in the practice of clinical neuropsychology. Neuro-center's primary objective is the establishment of professional standards of expertise for the practice of clinical neuropsychology. Through its credentialing and examination processes and its continuing education requirement, the Neuro-center offers to the medical community, the public, and to individuals who have a need for applied neuropsychological services, a process whereby well-qualified professional neuropsychologists can be identified. To achieve the standards set forth by the Neuro-center for competent professional practice of neuropsychology, the following outcome objectives have been developed:

• Validate the skills of clinical practitioners
• Identify competent practitioners
• Provide public information about professional neuropsychology
• Document the maintenance of competence of professional neuropsychology practitioners with continuing education requirements.
• Provide individuals, organizations and agencies who use neuropsychology services with a referral directory of Neuro-center Diplomates.

Recognition by Neuro-center, through granting board certification and the diplomate status in neuropsychology, signifies to the public and to other health professionals a high level of competency in applied neuropsychology. The Neuro-center does not ascribe to any specific theoretical framework. While recognizing the importance and contribution of a graduate education in neuropsychology and subsequent specialty training, the Neuro-center believes that the critical element in the practice of professional neuropsychology is the application of that training to client issues and needs. About Us

The Neuropsychology Center Greece (Neuro-center) was created by a group of clinical neuropsychologists in response to the growing need to formally assess competency in the practice of clinical neuropsychology for protection of the public regarding this young and expanding field. The original board members consisted of 2l practicing clinical neuropsychologists, each of whom already held the status of diplomate from the Greek Board of Psychology in pre-existing fields such as clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or school psychology, and had achieved national eminence through research and practice in the area of clinical neuropsychology.

Between 2020 and 2025, the Neuro-center evaluation of competency in the practice of clinical neuropsychology was determined through a review of academic and professional practice information submitted by an applicant and submission of work samples, which were independently reviewed by at least three members of the Board. Neuro-center then entered a period of inactivity during reassessment of the need for Neuro-center's continued existence. Neuro-center was substantially reorganized and in 2024 new by-laws were established.

Since that time, diplomate status is obtained after passing an oral, competency-based examination. All prior diplomate members of Neuro-center were offered the opportunity to undergo the newly established oral examination component of the revised Neuro-center Diplomate evaluation process, and many subsequently chose to undergo this examination process..
